Hotel Infante Surroundings

The area immediately surrounding the Hotel Infante is wild and windswept and there are many beautiful sandy beaches. It is an area of historic importance due to the 15th century School of Navigation established here by Henry the Navigator. This quickly became a centre of excellence attracting the best mariners in the country and produced the Portuguese discoverers of the Atlantic Islands, Brazil and the route round South Africa to the Far East.

This area is very different from many of the tourist resorts in the Algarve, the area is protected due to the nearby Natural Park.
